The SmackDown Live brand will put on the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view tonight on at 8 pm ET, on the WWE Network. The card features four titles matches along with some grudge matches. Will any of the championships change hands? Matt Hladio and I predict the action for tonight’s card.
AJ Styles(c) vs Dean Ambrose: TLC Match for the WWE World Championship
Eddie McDonald:This match should be the finale of this feud that has overstayed its welcome. Any match with AJ Style and a ladder is nothing short of amazing. Dean Ambrose’s “Lunatic Fringe” gimmick will be put on display in this match, although I still don’t get why he is considered a lunatic, but I digress. This match should be a lengthy battle. This past Tuesday on SmackDown Live, Styles took out the friend of Ambrose, the chinless wonder himself, James Ellsworth. He was taken away after a vicious Styles Clash off the ring steps onto the floor. Will he make an appearance tonight? I think it’s possible, but not in the sense you might think. I think if Ellsworth appears, he will cost Ambrose the match. That is of course, if Ellsworth is involved.
Prediction: AJ Styles to retain the WWE World Championship – I see Styles hitting his patented Styles Clash off a ladder through a table (If Ellsworth doesn’t get involved) to put Ambrose away. Post match, if indeed the Undertaker is going to wrestle for the title at the Royal Rumble in January, he will make an appearance and either stare down Styles or lay him out with a Choke Slam and/or Tombstone Pile Driver.
Matt Hladio: A TLC Match is a good way to end a feud and this match should be no different. This feud has been going on what seems like forever. I’m not saying I don’t like the feud, it is just time to move on. The wild card again is James Ellsworth. I see him getting involved in the match in some way. I think he accidentally costs Ambrose the title. I can see a Ellsworth/Ambrose feud possibly happening. Regardless of the the future booking, AJ Styles will walk out WWE World Champion.
Prediction: AJ Styles retains the WWE World Championship
Becky Lynch(c) vs Alexa Bliss: Table Match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
EM: This feud has been excellent and a table match is the right way to go with the gimmick PPV. Alexa Bliss has really maximized her minutes since being drafted from NXT. She is coming into her own as a pro wrestling villain and is meshing well with Becky Lynch, who has had a pretty good run as champ thus far. Regardless of the outcome, I don’t think this feud will end just yet. With that said…
Prediction: Alexa Bliss to capture the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Bliss will do some sort of dive on Lynch, through a table for the win. This is the right time to make the switch and see what Bliss can do with the title. The loss won’t hurt Lynch, as I believe it will suit he better to be the chaser of the gold for a little while.
MH: I agree with Eddie that this feud has been good. Alexa Bliss has really shined since being drafted to Smackdown. She has come a long way since NXT. She is a really good heel, and on the other side, Becky Lynch has been a good sympathetic, lovable face. As good as Becky has been as champ, it is time for a new champion to be crowned. I see Alexa Bliss hitting Twisted Bliss off the top rope onto Lynch through a table for the win.
Prediction: Alexa Bliss captures the Smackdown Women’s Championship
Heath Slater and Rhyno(c) vs Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt: for WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
EM: The dynamic of Randy Orton joining Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family has been really intriguing. It is only a matter of time before Orton snaps out of this “funk” and turns his back on Wyatt. Tonight is not the night for that to happen. It will be interesting to see how Luke Harper is involved as he has been skeptical of Orton in the Family. Heath Slater and Rhyno are doing a fine job with their act, but they don’t need the titles anymore.
Prediction: Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt to capture the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Titles. It’s hard not to see Harper getting involved in some fashion in this match. Look for Orton to shove Wyatt out of the way of a Gore from Rhyno, allowing Bray to hit Sister Abigail for the win, much like he did in the SmackDown vs Raw match from Survivor Series.
MH: Orton and Wyatt have been a great pairing. I was skeptic when Orton first joined the Wyatts, but it has work out great. They have built up great, even booked as the sole survivors in the Men’s 5-on-5 Survivor Series Match last month. I don’t see how they can lose this match. It is finally time to get Bray Wyatt his first championship in the WWE.
Prediction: Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt capture the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles
The Miz(c) vs Dolph Ziggler: Ladder Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
EM: Daniel Bryan said that no matter who wins this match, the feud will come to an end and both men will go their separate ways. The Miz should have never lost the title to begin with, but regardless, he, Ziggler and this feud have helped elevate the belt higher than it has been in recent years.
Prediction: The Miz to retain the Intercontinental Championship. This match has the potential to be Match of the Night. These two will go all out and tell an entertaining story. In the end, I see Maryse, the wife of Miz, somehow getting involved, thus allowing her husband to retain the title.
MH: This has been another great feud that Smackdown has produced. They have made the Intercontinental Championship more important. Miz has been the best run he has ever had in the company. He shouldn’t drop the title right now. Miz keeps taunting Daniel Bryan in his matches. Will Daniel Bryan have one more match? Who knows? What is for certain, in my mind, is Miz walks out champion.
Prediction: The Miz retains the Intercontinental Championship
Nikki Bella vs Carmella: No Disqualification Match
EM: This has been a very well done rivalry which has saw Carmella continuously attack Nikki Bella time and time again. Bella got a little retribution this past Tuesday. After this match, Bella will move on to a feud with whomever attacked her at Survivor Series, which all signs lead to Natalya being the culprit.
Prediction: Nikki Bella. This has potential to be a fun match, but these two ladies have some work to do in order to follow the Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair, Falls Count Anywhere match from this past Monday night, that saw The Boss recapture the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. Either way, both these women move on after Bella hits her finisher on some sort of foreign object.
MH: This is another well developed but it suffers from one thing, Carmella. The crowd doesn’t seem to be invested in Carmella as a heel. As a performer, Carmella is good, but doesn’t seem to connect to most of the audience. Although what I’ve said may be true, I think Carmella will get the win here to try to build her up more. I don’t think Nikki Bella needs this win.
Kalisto vs Baron Corbin: Chairs Match
EM: This match is only a chairs match due to the gimmick of the PPV. Does anybody actually care about this match? I sure don’t. Kalisto doesn’t do much for me and I’m waiting for Corbin to move on to bigger and better things. Expect some unique spots involving a chair in this match.
Prediction: Baron Corbin. Corbin should be booked to annihilate Kalisto, especially with chairs involved. Corbin has a problem with smaller wrestlers and should take out his frustrations in this match. The end will come when Corbin delivers his End of Days finisher onto a chair for the win.
MH: This feud has been so-so. It started around the draft then went away for several months and then just recently returned. I’m not really invest much in this match, but I do expect a decent match between these two. I’d expect Corbin to win and move on to another feud.
Prediction: Baron Corbin.
