Sometimes things are bigger than wrestling.

WWE proved that by holding the 15th annual Tribute to the Troops event at Naval Base San Diego. Their superstars put on an incredible show for the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, showing their gratitude following each match.

The action kicked off with The Shield facing Samoa Joe and The Bar. With bad blood brewing between all six men the past few weeks, it was sure to be a war.

Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose took it to Joe and the RAW Tag Team Champions early. This hot start continued throughout the match, with the Hounds of Justice carrying the momentum. Joe, Sheamus and Cesaro tried to turn the tide in their favor, but to no avail.

All it took was one spear from Reigns to pick up the win for The Shield. Once the match ended, the trio took a moment to thank the men and women in attendance for their bravery and service.

Up next was a women’s triple threat match, with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte taking on Carmella and Ruby Riott. Naomi, Tamina, Lana, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan surrounded the ring for the contest.

Riott and Carmella spent the early part of the match teaming up against Charlotte. The Queen, however, was able to battle back despite the numbers game and Natalya showing up to observe the match.

The team work was short-lived, as Carmella eventually threw Riott out of the ring to try and score a pinfall. This backfired as Charlotte was able to apply the Figure-Eight Leglock, forcing Ms. Money in the Bank to tap out.

After the match, Charlotte thanked those in attendance for their service. She said that they were all the true champions, especially the women who serve.

The SmackDown Live tag team division was next, as The New Day and The Usos took on Rusev, Aiden English, Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin.

Rusev, English, Gable and Benajmin threw everything they had at their competitors, but The New Day and the SmackDown Tag Team Champions proved to be too much. Xavier Woods and Big E were able to hit the Midnight Hour to give their team the win.

The women were back in action, this time from Monday Night RAW. Sasha Banks, Bayley and Mickie James faced off against Absolution (Paige, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose).

Banks, Bayley and James were looking to get some revenge on Absolution for their repeated attacks. They had the momentum early on and didn’t let up. Banks and Bayley battled Deville and Rose at ringside while James and Paige fought in the ring.

After a near fall on Paige, James broke up the ringside brawl by diving to the outside. The former Diva’s Champion was lying in wait once James returned inside the ring, hitting her with the Ram-Paige for the win.

In the main event, WWE Champion AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton took on Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Jinder Mahal.

Orton and Owens started the match, with the Viper taking control early. This momentum carried over to his partners, who gave their opponents little room for offense. Owens, Zayn and Mahal tried to use the Singh Brothers to their advantage, but it was short-lived.

The teams went back and forth before an all-out brawl broke out. Once the dust settled, Styles hit a Phenomenal Forearm, Orton hit an RKO and Nakamura hit a Kinshasa to pick up the victory.
