The Progressive Legends Classic wraps up today as Pitt (1-3) and Oklahoma State (3-1) will play in the consolation game after losses to Penn State and Texas A&M respectively.

Pitt was blown out by Penn State and you can check out the recapĀ here. They were horrible shooting, couldn’t defend, and allowed Penn State to do anything they wanted. Oklahoma State had a lot of the same and fell to the 16th ranked Aggies.

Pitt only shot 32% from the floor which is pretty bad if you want to win a game. Oklahoma State managed to fair worse at 29.9%. Obviously, it can’t get much worse so the shooting percentages should trend up a bit and make for a bit more entertaining of a game.

Sophomore Brandon Averette is shining at guard for the Cowboys. He is averaging 13.5 points despite coming off the bench. Pitt is getting their scoring production from Jared Wilson-Frame as he has been in double digits in each game to this point and is averaging 16.5 points.

Pitt and Oklahoma State have met 10 previous times including a meeting in the 2004 Sweet 16 where Oklahoma State prevailed. Pitt has the all-time edge, though, at 6-4.

Monday night’s blowout was a test for the Panthers after losing a cross-state rivalry game but having to come back less than 24 hours later and attempt to rebound and pick up a victory. Head coach Kevin Stallings gave his thoughts on the quick turnaround.

“It helps that we won’t have time to dwell on it,” Stallings said. “We need to get over it quickly and be ready to play tomorrow.”

The game tips at 3:30 PM and will be broadcast on ESPNU as well as 93.7 The Fan as the teams battle for third place.
