The Pittsburgh Riverhounds have completed their three-game series, in the season, against the Rochester Rhinos, but not in the way they would have liked.

The Riverhounds fell to the Rhinos 3-0 on Saturday evening after a weather delay. The win for the Rhinos completes a sweep in the series, as they’ve taken every game with a win.

The Riverhounds started Zack Steffen in goal again, as Mauricio Vargas is out with a back injury. Hunter Gilstrap was the man to suit up as the second-string goalkeeper. Steffen made six saves on the night while Rhinos goalkeeper Tomas Gomez made three saves.

The Rhinos got on the board early with a goal from Sofiane Tergou in the 8′ minute, which was assisted by Ryan Lee James. Tergou scored the second goal for the Rhinos in the 40′ minute, this time having it unassisted. Finishing off the Rhinos scoring was Sean Reilly in the 57′ minute with his goal.

The Riverhounds had six shot attempts the whole night, with three being on goal. Two of the six shot attempts even came from defender Willie Hunt. The other shot attempts came from Mike Green, Corey Hertzog, Alejandro Aguilar, and Nick Thompson.

A positive for both teams was that neither team was given a yellow or red card the entire evening.

The Riverhounds will return to Highmark Stadium to host the Wilmington Hammerheads FC on Wednesday, August 24. The match will begin at 7 p.m. EDT.
