Pirates win over Brewers, 4-1

The Pirates won Wednesday night’s contest in Milwaukee making it their sixth straight win at Miller Park. Pittsburgh moved one game over .500 for their 76th win of the season. On the current road trip, the Pirates have won the last seven of ten moving within 3.5 of the National League wild card slot.

Sean Rodriguez continued his hitting streak with an RBI single and another homerun—his 18th of the season.

Andrew McCutchen led the way for Pittsburgh with a two-out homerun in the top of the first. Gregory Polanco and David Freese followed with two singles. Both were able to score when Rodriguez singled to right making it 3-0 before the Brewers’ first at bat.

Chad Kuhl held tough after a 28 pitch first inning. Kuhl struck out six over a span of six innings, and he gave up just one run on five hits.

Rodriguez added to Pittsburgh’s lead with his homerun in the fourth inning.

The Bucs 4-0 lead was cut to three in the fifth when Jonathan Villar singled allowing Michael Reed to score the Brewers’ first and only run of the game.

Tony Watson earned save number 15 and allowed Pittsburgh to come away with the win in Milwaukee.

Pittsburgh will go for the sweep and their seventh straight win at Miller Park on Thursday night. Ryan Vogelsong will be on the mound for Pittsburgh with a first pitch from Milwaukee’s Chase Anderson at 8:10 P.M. ET.
