Posted on Dec 2 2016 - 5:03pm by Joey Cinello

Event: Duquesne (3-5) @ Pitt (7-1) (technically a Panthers home game)
Venue: PPG Paints Arena
Tip-off: 7 p.m. EST
Radio/TV: 93.7 The Fan, ACC Network Extra
Spread: Duquesne +16, Pitt -16
Money line: Duquesne +1200, Pitt +3000

Coming in

Pitt: Coming off an upset (per say) win over Maryland, Michael Young and the Panthers look to continue their 15-year winning streak over the Duquesne.

Duquesne: Unexpectedly, despite making a late-game run, Duquesne fell to UMBC Wednesday, 81-72. The Dukes’ last victory came on December 21, 2000, 71-70 over Pitt.

Pitt owns a 53-31 series lead against Duquesne since the two first met in 1932.

Keys for both

Pitt:Kevin Stallings. Starters must execute early on leading to more playing and experience for bench guys against a rather weak opponent. Rozelle Nix, who could be a key going down the stretch, and other younger guys must amass at least moderate playing time.

Duquesne: Darius Lewis, expected to lead the Dukes once Derrick Colter and Micah Mason’s graduated, must outplay his averages if the Dukes expect to have a chance — six points and six assists, I can guarantee you, will not cut it tonight. Nevertheless, watch for how Duquesne head coach Jim Ferry manages his team, many Dukes faithful are calling for his head.
